underwear

Under where?
Under there!
Under here, there, anywhere!
It’s in your drawer,
It’s on the floor,
It’s even hanging on the door.
Some are blue, some are red,
Some are stretched out, nearly dead.
Some are lacy, fancy, new,
And some, my friend, have holes right through!
There are boxers, briefs,
thongs, and things,
Some that cling,
and some with strings.
Underwear’s a funny friend
You wear it out, but not to offend.
It’s there beneath your daily wear,
but no one sees it—under where?
Underwear goes where you go.
It bends and stretches to and fro.
But don’t forget, in all your haste,
to wash it often, for heaven’s sake!
And if your undies make a show
or peek where they’re not meant to go,
Don’t fret, don’t cry, don’t hide away—
It’s just some cloth that’s gone astray.
We all have pairs, we all have seams,
In silly colors, wild extremes.
So laugh it off, no need to care,
It’s just a flash of underwear!
So lift a cheer for every pair,
The snug, the loose, the barely there.
Beneath it all, they’re always there—
Hooray, hooray for underwear!
