piano

The piano is an expression of life, condensed into 88 keys.
Variation infinity.
You start with Middle C because that’s what they tell you to do.
It’s safe, it’s centered, it’s predictable.
It’s also boring as hell.
But it’s where you begin because nobody knows what the hell they’re doing at first.
For a kid, it’s chaos.
They smash the keys like life is a joke, and maybe they’re right.
Every note is loud, messy, and wrong, but at least they’re playing.
For a master, it’s discipline and madness.
Every note, a decision.
Every silence, deliberate.
They’ve spent years turning noise into something beautiful,
but they’ll be the first to tell you:
They’re still making it up as they go.
The black keys are a cheat code.
You can play them blindfolded and never hit a wrong note.
But only playing the black keys?
That’s like living with the lights off.
Safe, sure.
But you’ll never see the whole damn room.
Those dusty keys are a conduit for your feelings.
They’ll let you pour your heart out, cry into it, and scream at it.
They don’t judge.
They just give you back what you give it.
They hold everything.
Joy, heartbreak, fury, hope.
All the shit you can’t say out loud unless it’s within a song.
And it’s funny.
At first, it feels impossible, like you’ll never figure it out.
But the more you play, the more it starts to make sense.
Not because it’s easier.
Because you’ve learned to live with the chaos.
Celebrate the cracks.
Celebrate the wrong notes.
Celebrate the fact that whether you’re smashing it like a kid
or whispering into it like a poet,
you’re here. You’re playing.
And when it gets hard—
when the notes sound wrong,
when your hands cramp,
when you want to quit—
remember:
It’s all part of the song.

Daily Writing Tip
Celebrate imperfection to inspire resilience.
Acknowledging “wrong notes” and “cracks” as part of the process encourages readers to embrace flaws as essential to growth.
