ghost

ghost

Yours is a love that can’t be held

A misfortunate memory that you won’t tell

A passenger that never leaves

The spirit that grips my grief

The ghost in everything

The words that wrap around

The chords I strum

The silence between

The sounds I hum

If sad’s a song

You’re the muse that haunts me

And everywhere I went wrong

The ghost in everything

Every smile that we shared

Said it’d turn out alright

Now they just r.i.p. me apart

And wreck me inside

My heart wasn’t born broken

It was broken open by you, baby

And maybe that’s how it’s meant to stay

So I’ll remain in pain forever and wait for

The ghost in everything

A companion of heartbreak

A manifestation of mistakes

To you, I’ll dedicate my poetry

Every word on every page

Every story said

Inside my head

Until all I am is bones buried dead

With the ghost in everything

You’re the ghost in all my dreams

You’re the ghost in every scene

The ghost that never leaves

The ghost in everything
