football
Football is life in 100 yards.
A messy, chaotic, beautiful metaphor we pretend is just a game.
The clock’s always running.
Tick, tick, tick.
You think you’ve got time until you don’t.
The rules are written, but the real game happens between them—
scrambling, adjusting, surviving.
It’s a team sport.
You can’t do it alone, no matter how big your ego.
You need blockers, passers, catchers—
people who’ll take a hit so you can run.
And when you fall,
you hope someone’s there to pick you up.
The field is full of problems.
Eleven of them, breathing down your neck.
But every problem is also a chance.
Sometimes, you break through.
Sometimes, you get flattened.
Sometimes, you’re just running in circles.
The goalposts never move,
but they always feel so far away.
You march forward, inch by inch.
Zigzag. Fumble. Try again.
And when you finally get there,
you wonder why it didn’t feel like enough.
Football teaches patience.
You don’t win in one play.
It’s the grind, the grit, the ugly persistence.
It’s showing up even when everything hurts,
even when the odds are stacked against you.
And when the whistle blows,
you realize it was never really about the score.
It was about the fight.
The sweat.
The moments you gave everything,
even when no one was watching.
Life is football, but with fewer pads.
